Nuwave Dome Cracked

My Nuwave oven dome just was not capable of withstanding the heat and eventually cracked. I need a replacement dome, but don't think I should have to pay S49.95 for it. The company should work out a solution for all these many cracked covers. The affected customers should be given a replacement cover or at lease at a reduced price. Furthermore, can these replacement domes be sold in the store where the complete set is sold? That would give us a break on the shipping and handling. I think it is deplorable to have a defective cover after less than a year's worth of cooking. The company needs to do something and do something soon, other that bringing out a new power doom. Who is to say that this will not result in a similar outcome? We need a solution for all these cracked domes and complaints.

I love my nuwave oven but the dome cracked without being dropped or anything. Yes a material does need to be used that wont crack with normal use.

The dome on my NuWave oven cracked within 3 months of its purchase. Neither the vendor from whom I purchased the unit not NuWave make any attempts to replace the defective dome.

Judging from the number of complaints available throughout the Internet, it is obvious that this defect is very prominent. The unit performs well, but the materials are less than substandard.

I have read reviews where, even after you send your money for shipping that the replacement part never comes in. Well I send mine through certified...

I bought a nu-wave in January through Finger Hut, the dome cracked in July 2013, I have made several calls to Hearth-ware Nu-Wave and have been given the run around since my first call...I like the product and use it everyday....I will not purchase another nu wave oven. I started making phone calls to nu wave on 9-3-13, today is 9-15-13 still n response...VERY AGGRAVATED with this company.
DO NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCT!!!!! I can't believe a compnay will sell their product nation wide and not want to warranty it..I am very very unhappy about this thing

After 11 days of battle seemed like I am getting a replacement dome for 10.95 which covers the shipping. I did not give up, I called every day for 11 days..I even told one of the supervisors that she had incompetent people working customer service...I sent my receipt, I sent pictures of the cracked dome, and still their customer service was greatly lacking..I did not give up, somebody was going to help me. :grin

I also brought the NuWave oven a month ago and love it, however, I went to use it this evening and the dome is cracked on each side where you screw the heat element in. Any suggestions? Phyllis Dixon

Anonymous, all I done was stayed on phone everyday, somebody was going to help me, it took me about 11 days to get the response I was looking for, but during this time I wrote down every phone conversation I had, who it was with what time of day and the date, so when I would call I could tell them, I am getting a replacement dome for 10.95 better than the 49.95 just keep calling they have terrible customer service, but I am very persitent. hope this helps

I was going to order but after seeing that 400+ customers complained either about deceptive shipping costs which apparently are more than the product itself. It's extremely disappointing to hear how the customers love it but wouldn't recommend doing businessnwith Hearthware because the dome keeps breaking and it either costs$49.95 plus shipping or the persistent person spent 11 days getting a reasonable replacement.

This is customer feedback the company should be using to improve the lid and be transparent about shipping. Sad to see the company would rather continue such deceptive business practices rather than truly sell a good product that seems to work.

Cracked Dome

I purchased my NuWave oven about 3 years ago and I also purchased the NuWave Cooktop about one year ago, both through the Infomercial on television. The dome on my NuWave oven cracked soon after we received it, but we lived with it until now.

I called to purchase a new one and the best they would do is to charge me $39.99, including S&H. To make matters worse, they don't even have my name and order number in their system. Today one can purchase these at department stores for about $90 - $100 on sale.

It's a ripoff by NuWave to charge $40.00 for a piece of PLASTIC, while 90% of the cost of the oven is the POWER TOP that does the cooking. To say the least, I opted to NOT purchase a replacement dome and to live with the cracked dome until the the power top breaks down, and then I will purchase another at a discount store for about 75 % of the cost directly through NuWave, and not have to pay another $25.00 for S&H.

The equipment not as good as they claim

I bought the oven and the pan's for the Pic of which I have three. Their small coated fry pan has never worked the way it is suppose to. It sticks. when I called they told me that my pan was still in warranty, and they would be sending me a new pan. what I got was an e-mail telling me that the coating was not covered and for me to try different method to clean it. If I had known that the Pan was not covered by them I would never spent the money on them.I will tell everyone what poor products they are selling.

NU WAVE PLASTIC DOME VICTIMIZES CLIENTS

I was contacted by a representative of the company who sells the Nu-Wave after this post. I had said that the plastic Dome cracks and then breaks on me constantly.

I have had to purchase three in just a short time. The main heating fan element is still working just fine. It has outlasted its warranted time very well. And as for the Done we have come to a settlement for that and I am satisfied now.Thanks Hearthware for having a Rep reviewing this site and responding to my complaint so quickly.

It is a first to have a company have this kind of responsibility and willingness to solve a customers problem.

I give you A+ for that and A+ for the Main heating/fan Element, But that Dome is bad. I hope the newest version you have out now the "SUPERDOME" of domes lol works wonders :P

ONE BREAKS AND REPLACE THEN BREAKS THEN REPLACE THEN BREAKS TILL THERE'S NO MONEY LEFT IN HOUSEHOLD TO KEEP REPAIRING THIS DEFECTIVE PART. I THINK YOU OWE ME ONE FREE REPLACEMENT DOME BECAUSE ITS NOT MY FAULT ITS YOUR FAULT AND THE MANUFACTURER MAKING DEFECTIVE DOME AND ME SPENDING MONEY TO FIX IT OVER AND OVER...so this company Nu Wave should recall all our domes we have and if we kept the old ones collect them also and either refund us or pay us back or send replacement domes for each broken dome we send them now....well hows that sound people ?

I have purchased 3 and now the number 3 is cracked badly. I asked my son for a new dome for Christmas, it recently came but now I can't separate the dome of #3 so that I can attach my new#4 dome.

It's a terrible waste of money that the domes constantly crack. What a bummer and I could have purchased a dstove by now, and I haven't been reimbursed for anything!

well good for you. your not the only one that's had their domes crack an fall apart.

in the beginning all the plastic domes were made inferior trust me. A notable company investigated the plastic to be far below the standards of a typical plastic object thats subjected to these types of heat and temperatures. And i can imagine that Nu wave would go bankrupt if they replaced every dome free so instead they are offering a compromise for everyone with the new plastics.

So far i haven't heard of any numerous complaints about the new plastics and lets hope that the new domes are up to par for this product. I like to see it work and become a great machine for expert people to cook food in them

A couple tips I can offer would be to return your dome to the base after you remove your food instead of leaving it on the dome holder while it is hot and always wash the dome after each use, since any grease on the dome from prior use will get extremely hot when reheated.

Second cracked dome

Same old, same old. You'd think by now the makers would have solved the Great Cracking Dome problem. They haven't. I had to order another dome after the first one cracked from no apparent reason. The replacement dome lasted one year before it cracked. I truly like the oven, but replacing domes so often is not cost effective. I plan to trash the entire oven, and forget replacing it or any other product produced by this company. They must make more money replacing cracked domes than selling the actual ovens. What a great marketing ploy that is! They have been aware of this problem for years, and are happy turning a deaf ear to customer complaints, but do nothing to improve their defective product. Don't be duped any longer, and save your money. They've ripped-off customers long enough!

Please believe these reviews. This is the WORST company I have ever dealt with! I have not even plugged it in yet but the headaches I had ordering it would take an hour to tell. Do not give your credit card info till you have confirmed the order. They deliberately enter the order wrong then tell you they are unable to change it! Then customer service will not return your call. Credit card company says you cannot cancel your payment, you can refuse it from UPS but good luck getting the charge removed! Go to K-Mart and buy one for $80!

Crack dome and grill finish coming off

hi my dome is crack in two places and my grate is turn different color and hard to clean the coating looks like its coming off i don't mind paying for new one but the company should help and pay for shipping of the new parts We should get free shipping!!!!!!!!!! WE love your oven we use it everyday we tape the cracks and still use it .after be laid off my job everything just fell apart my truck broke down my oven broke no jobs no money to by new parts just money feed my family and pay my bill and i am behind on them to so thing get put off and this was one of them thanks dgosling

Twister new wave is breaking into small black pieces!

When I opened the box which arrived through the mail with my NuWave oven everything seemed to be in order. I've been cooking with it and even though it's slower than I thought and I can't seem to get potatoes crisp, I'm happy with it. I am also happy with the twister that came with is, however, it made a sound kind of like a baby's rattle when I picked it up after putting it together. I was a little worried when I turned it on, but it worked great, and has ever since, except that my husband started finding tiny pieces of black plastic in different sizes on the kitchen counter when the twister is located. These small plastic pieces started showing up on the kitchen floor, too. Then I realized the pieces were the same color and texture as part of the twister...I've tried to call and get someone on your phone number, however, there are no options for complaints. I will keep using the twister, which does a wonderful job, but I'd like to know if other twisters also have this defect, and if this defect may be harming my husband and me! Please get in touch. Crack Dome

I just had to complain, this Dome has been a problem for me on three different Nuwave machine . Cracked....Cracked and NO satisfaction from the Company. Also the grill rust also. This is an inferior product ... with a great idea . I am just getting tried on CRACKED DOMES. And I will not pay the price for inferior parts !!!! So you do want you want , BUY IT and then Complain too!! I am tried of the Company excuses. Just read ALL complains. They sell this products with ALL the attachments , instead they should just fix the problems with better quality Parts.

Party Mixer Broke After 1 Use

I purchased the new wave and thought I had taken advantage of the buy one get one free deal, but when my bill arrived I saw that I was charged $89.95 for shipping. I called and spoke to 2 women there and told them I wanted to cancel my order.

After much insisting and a $15 credit I decided I would give it a try.. Bug mistake!! upon arrival, I used the Nu Wave to cook a couple of meals.. Simply disappointing...

It takes much longer than using conventional cooking methods and the food does not taste the same... I later used the Party Mixer to make a fruit shake, but when I tried using it for a second time the mixer no longer worked.. At this point I HATE THIS PRODUCT LINE and WANT A REFUND AND A RETURN LABEL SO I CAN RETURN THIS ***!!!!!!!... The worst thing about this is that NU WAVE does not provide a return label on its website, so you have to keep calling and calling to try to speak to a live RUDE person!!!

I HATE YOU!!!!! AND YOUR PRODUCTS!!!!!

Love Nuwave but WORST Customer Service I've ever had

To start off, I am absolutely in love with the Nu Wave and stand by it 100%. The energy efficiency, how it cooks so quickly, Perfectly and gets so much more fat out. Chicken is by far the best! BUT......the Customer Service is the WORST I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.....HORRIBLE. I called on June 12th, 2013 that my head unit stopped working (after only about 1 year). To my surprise I had a warranty until May 2014 and they would send a new one to me to replace it, but I would have to pay $15 for shipping PLUS pay for return shipping....? I was like ok...that's fine. 1 week later on 7/19/13 I called to check on it or see where it's at and she said it hadn't been shipped yet and that I was told it could take 7 - 14 business days.....So I called the a week later. Still nothing and was told that someone from their Technical Dept or something would be contacting me Monday. Never heard anything by Wed still so I called and they said they would make sure that someone called me. The next week STILL no word so I called a few times but kept calling outside their short hours they are available. Got a hold of someone today (7/10/13) and said it NEVER shipped. She told me I would have to pay the $11.95 to ship it and I said are you serious? After everything I've been through I still have to pay, with how long it's been, NO freaking follow up calls like promised 3 times, no one helping and it being a month later with out being shipped and was told there's nothing they can do. They wouldn't even expedite the shipping for me and said it would be 5 - 7 business days. Thought we were done then she asked for the Serial #. I said I was at work and don't have it and she said she couldn't ship it to me until they had the serial #. I said you have to be kidding me, I'm at work and I bought it from YOU guys, you don't have my serial # on my account? She didn't and said I would have to call back when I get the serial # for them to ship it. So it will be another 1 - 2 days on top of the 5-7 to get it. This is an UNDERSTATEMENT when I say that their Customer Service is a *** JOKE!!!!! Absolultely NO empathy from anyone I've talked to like they can care a less. I am patient, nice and educated, have a bachelor degree and have worked in Customer Service for over 12 years so I was very polite and calm with them each time and know how CS is supposed to work....and they have been the perfect example of how CS should NOT work. Just a reminder, the product is absolutely amazing and I will still brag to friends and family about it and encourage people to buy it, but if you have to deal with their CS...be prepared.

I bought this oven for my mom two years ago. after only 6 mos the dome began to crack.

I called to replace it. They were out of stock. Have been out of stock for two years. This is the only cooking device my mom has and she has that dome all taped up and it looks like ***.

Shame on you NuWave.

If you can't back your products you shouldn't be allowed to sell it. Going to take my beef to the attorney Gen and see if he has any clout with you crooks.

Dome cracks hard to clean

gonethrough 2 domes in 2 years.1st one broke in 8 mo.replaced 2ond one not covered even though i have 5 year warrenty.cooking with it cracked because it wont come off.yes it makes great food but dome is *** and the company wont replace it because they try to rip u off on parts like everyone else.called co. and they said i had to send the dome back at my expense plus pay for them to ship me another plus pay for the dome so i just keep using it all cracked up.now it has 8 cracks.i just never undo it and keep using it.its ugly

The dome cracks are 'thermal stress cracks'.

The crack starts within the plastic dome; meaning.. you can't feel the crack, but you can see it.

Under continued use, the crack will propagate until it reaches the inner or outer skin of the dome. At that point the dome is no longer stable and can crumble at any time.

I have had my Nuwave for over 4 years. The cracks started within the first year. They started out like small scratches, but I could not feel it on the dome.

I tried what I could to prevent the issue: Keep rack from touching dome, keep food from touching dome, let cool to room temp before cleaning, never place in sink - always wipe down with paper towel.

Nothing worked as a preventive measure.

I will be ordering a new dome (as I only cook in my Nuwave!).

On the Nuwave website, they NOW have a 'thermal resitive' power-dome for sale.. yet they are sold out. So, they are aware of the problem, yet do not plan on replacing product because it takes years before it becomes unstable.

I hope this info helps.

Warranty

After reading the reviews I decided to call and ask about how the warranty works because most of the complains are about the dome and the rep cant even give me an answer instead he's trying to change the subject. The rep told me that the warranty program just came out a couple months ago and he also informed me that I can get an upgraded dome, the glass is more durable and better.

The way I look at it, they want you to buy the original dome then once the cracks starts to show then they will offer you to buy the upgraded dome. Good marketing strategy for people who doesnt research.
